We do live a few hours away but always available by phone and have local witness friends and neighbors to help if you need anything.

Other Things to Note

There are beach rental companies that will set up beach chairs, umbrellas etc for you right on the beach, as well as places to rent bikes and golf carts. There is also a kayak rental that will drop off the kayaks and pick them up for you. The point is great you have the ocean with waves on one side and calm waters great for kids and kayaking on the other side, best of both worlds.

The Neighborhood

Great neighborhood, plenty of places to ride bikes, Nature Center with dock for fishing 0.9 miles from house. Public Boat/kayak launch 0.8 miles, both easy to walk or ride a bike to. Grocery stores, restaurants and beach shops all within 5 min drive. The waterway is just across the street and the beach access is a 10 min walk or 2 min drive with public parking by the dunes. 2 restaurants available on the beach close to the 67th street access one at the pier and the other just a little further up from the pier. Homemade Ice Cream/shake shop a bike ride or short drive away.

Getting Around

Golf carts are allowed on the Island, bring your own or rentals are available. The Southport Ferry runs to Baldhead Island or to Wilmington. You can take your bike to Baldhead or rent bikes and golf carts there. No cars allowed on Baldhead Island, you can take your car across the ferry to Wilmington though. Wilmington and Myrtle Beach are just under an hour drive from Oak Island.
